It was a perfect day for rugby on Sunday and again the emphasis was on developing our strong Vikings Emerging Players Team, in readiness for the Havant EPF in two weeks time. The main focus was on defence and bringing the defensive line up quickly to prevent the opposition from breaching their own advantage line. The players tackled like demons, spurred on by the fact that Joe Batley was on hand to help with the training session and offer advice and encouragement. After a warm up and defensive drill, the Emerging Team took on the Blues in a full match and the skills picked up during training were evident for all to see, there was no quarter given by either side and they went try for try all the way through the match. It was also pleasing to see that the Emerging Team were putting the ball through their hands with confidence.
Once again a huge thank-you to Joe for giving up his time to support the team, it's easy to see the effect a role model has on players of our age group, they were certainly all out to impress.
