The Stingrays travelled to Locksheath on Sunday hoping to build upon last week’s performance and they didn’t disappoint. Playing against a well drilled and strong team, The Stingrays took hold of the game from the start scoring two quick tries in the first 5 minutes. Locksheath though soon fought back in what ended up being a free-flowing end to end game. Great rucking by the Stingrays ensured they secured the majority of breakdowns and allowed them a platform to get the ball wide enabling our backs to use the width to score, something they worked hard on in training during the week.
At half time there was only one try between the teams. Codey as captain this week got the team focused with a clear game plan for the second half and the Stingrays came out in full force, ending up eventual winners 59-31. Seven players got Stingrays nine tries this week, proving to themselves that they are a well-balanced team where there isn’t reliance on one or two key players, they all have a part to play to ensure victory, and through the massive effort they all showed they should all be very proud of their performance.
Man of the match went to Liam who at Fullback got some great tackles in and positioned himself well in supporting the attack.
