A great performance from an 18 man Saxons squad under the floodlights at Fareham Heathens. There was a healthy crowd to witness the match and the weather remained fair.
A strong start to the match was made by the Saxons with the kick off being gathered and ground gained straight away. The Saxons continued to build with constructive supporting play with both forwards and backs involved. The Saxons scrum was strong from the off enabling the back row to get around the pitch to provide a link to the backs. The backs when provided with this good ball made the most of it with some good handling skills and that gave the Saxon wingers plenty of opportunities to run with the ball.
Fareham Heathens did not ease up throughout the match which was commendable to them and at times the Saxons had to defend tirelessly to prevent conceding any further tries.
Of the seven tries scored ( 2 by forwards and 5 from the backs) incredibly 6 were converted ( by two different kickers)
Strong performances throughout from 1 to 18 pleased all members of the coaching team and impressed the Heathens coaching staff.
