As we head into another exciting season, I would like to wish every team across Gosport & Fareham RFC the very best of luck for the year ahead. From our youngest players taking their first steps into rugby, through our youth teams, ladies' team, senior men's teams and walking rugby community, I hope this season brings plenty of success, enjoyment, development and unforgettable memories.

The hard work, dedication and commitment shown by our players, coaches and volunteers throughout the summer has been fantastic, and I am incredibly proud of the effort that everyone has put in to prepare for the season ahead. As we embark upon our year of growth and development, I encourage every team to embrace the opportunities ahead, support one another and continue representing our club with pride, passion and respect.

Success is not measured solely by results on the pitch, but by the friendships we build, the challenges we overcome, the progress we make and the enjoyment we share along the way.

To every player pulling on a Gosport & Fareham RFC shirt this season, wear it with pride, give everything you have and remember that you are part of something much bigger than just your team.

Remembering Michael Stillion

Tomorrow's double header at Gosport Park will hold a particularly special meaning for our club as we come together to honour and remember Michael Stillion, who sadly passed away on 21st August 2026. Michael was a dedicated player, a valued teammate and someone who was immensely proud to be part of the Hugin family. His connection to our club and the friendships he built through rugby will always be remembered.

In what will be a particularly poignant moment, Michael's grandson, Jack, will continue the family name and proudly step onto the pitch for the season's opening game. It's a fitting tribute to Michael's love of rugby and a reminder of the special bonds that make our club more than just a place to play sport. Rugby is about family, friendship, community and the generations who continue to carry our club forward. Prior to kick-off, we will hold a one-minute applause in Michael's memory.

I would encourage as many of our members, players, families and supporters as possible to come down to Gosport Park tomorrow, support the lads and join us in celebrating Michael's life and his contribution to our rugby family.

Let's create a fantastic atmosphere, stand together as one club and make the opening games of the season a fitting tribute to Michael.

To our coaches, team managers, volunteers, parents and supporters, thank you for everything you do to make rugby possible across our club.
