On Sunday we welcomed Portsmouth US from across the water who brought 17 players to add to the 35 Celts who had all turned out on a lovely morning. The weather was unusually mild and the ground was perfect.
3 warm up games of developing touch rugby got the hands warmed up and the minds focused. We then rotated teams of 8 around a 4 station circuit including a match, rucking and mauling practise, break out touch (tackle) and handling skills.
All the coaches hard work was evident in the match station where I saw some very competitive matches and some great performances.
Notable performances from across the session were as follows:
Defence of the Day - awarded to Jamie Arnold for his persistence at the breakdown and great tackle technique - keep it up Jamie!
Attack of the Day - Jack Harrison made the break through turning defence into attack and drove 30m up-field to relieve the pressure applied by US. Great Stuff!
Play of the Day - ultimate team play from the Celts allowed Morgan Clayton to expertly score in the corner and finish off move of the day - well done!
More great play from the Celts and a pleasure to have Portsmouth US. All the boys and girls played with great respect for team mates, competitors, officials and the rules. Remember the RFU TREDS Code of Rugby: Teamwork • Respect • Enjoyment • Discipline • Sportsmanship
We are away next week at Fareham Heathens for a training session and matches, please indicate your availability via the Pitchero App.
Thanks to everyone for a great weekend, see you soon!
