A beautiful day out in Havant.

A beautiful day for rugby in Havant and the boys did not disappoint. A mixed ability squad took to the field representing the Celts whilst the remaining squad stayed home to work on training.
First up was a very good side not faced by the Celts for some time - Chichester. It was always going to be a tough first game but the Celts fought hard to the end but could not break down a resolute Chichester defence going down L0-6.
With 90 minutes between games #1 and #2 the coaches had time to work on some areas that were not so good and to lift the boys spirits after their biggest defeat for some time. The boys were fantastic and went up against Havant with a spring in their step. William Breeze caught the ball from the kick off and like a rocket sprinted the length of the pitch to score our first try. We knew we needed to use the width more in attack and the Celts started to find their confidence in their passing. The ball was spread wide and Coby Fleetwood powered over in the corner for his first try; well done Coby! We saw strong ball carrying from Bryn Allison and Owen Williams and great support play from Harry Martin. Unfortunately Havant sneaked a try in before HT but the second half was all Celts and the supporters were treated to some fantastic team trys, notibly Harry Martin finishing off a flowing move with off-loads galore! Charlie Fisher scored two tries, William Breeze added another and Jack Harrison shrugged off 6 tackles to score a wonderful individual effort. The boys were back with a bang (pun #2)! W7-1
Portsmouth US were put to the sword in the next game with the Celts keeping a clean sheet. Joshua Fernandes calmly caught a high defensive kick and instead of panicking he picked his gaps, ran 3/4 of the field to set up a great try! Jamie Arnold unfortunately had the ball knocked out of his hands as he crossed over for his first but within 30 seconds the Celts had notched up another with Kai Williams using all his strength to dive over. Harry Martin picked up a finger injury to end his day - high ball :-( We saw more physicality as Havant were determined to put on a show for the home crowd and Oliver Smith scored his first of the day with a wonderful individual effort. Daniel Walker got stuck in after sealing a loose ball and presented well. Shining star of the day Morgan Clayton used immense ferocity and controlled aggression to smash his way over for his first try of the season after an injury lay off. Joshua Fernandes scored a deserved try and Jake Hoare popped up with 2 powerhouse trys to finish off W5-0. On fire!
Next up were New Milton but the Celts were flying high and Charlie Fisher and Morgan Clayton got the Celts off the mark early on. Kai Williams must have found his running shoes as he was running here there and everywhere scoring tries (x2), saving tries making tries - well done Kai!
Bryn Allison and Joshua Fernandes made a great partnership out wide with some lovely offloading before Oliver Smith scored another. Coby Fleetwood and Jack Harrison put their bodies on the line with some monstrous tackles. Charlie Fisher and Kai Williams were smashing through the rucks. A cheeky pass to the blind side from Charlie Fisher at scrum half set Jake Hoare on his way to score a 50m try - UNSTOPPABLE! And he wasn't done there scoring another before the final whistle. W7-1
Last up were Portsmouth Junior who met a Celts team low on gas. 3 very quick early tries from Portsmouth made it nearly impossible for the Celts to get back into it but, just like the morning, the Celts stuck together epitomising TREDS and fought to the death but went down L1-3 with William Breeze scoring our last try of the day.
The boys represented our club with passion, integrity and respect and sent us all home proud.
Thank you to our sponsors http://www.sa-group.com/ and we hope to see everyone back training next week at home.

Thank you to all the parents for arriving on time, I know our schedule was a little disjointed so I hope everyone enjoyed it.
See you next week
