Training / Xmas Party Report

Well where can I start ( sorry guys this is going to be a long report), we had such a filled up day.

Ah yes I think I will start with the training. On a VERY cold winter morning down at Gosport and Fareham RFC it didn't look like many people were going to turn up! But when Howard arrived he got us passing the ball around the circle to warm up our hands til everyone else arrived.

We were then split up into 3 groups. In Big Mikes group we started off stretching out the leg muscles since it was the first thing we had done in the morning and the quad is one of the most powerful muscles in our body we didn't want to active. But we started to learn the techniques and body angles of the firemans carry. Where we had to put our hands through the other persons leg and lift them onto our shoulders, and then we should have one arm free because we should be holding there arm and leg together. And then we had to try and do some squates whilst doing the firemans carry wich proved to be challenging.

In Ray's group we were focusing on changing to jogging pace and then snapping into a sprinting pace just like in a game an attacker would change there pace. I think that exercise was the one that was going to help out fitness and I think we should practice that exercise.

In Mikes group we were working mainly on footwork. Thanks to Pony he decided to put the stepping ladder in the muddiest place on the whole of Dolphin Crescent in other words our pitch! So it became very heavy on our boots and tiring on our stamina to work through the mud. We also worked on stepping and jumping and trying not to lift our knees to high when stepping around the poles.

After that we had to give someone of similar size on our backs and carry them up the little slope and then dismount and run pack down and then swap. Pony then came up with the idea of comando crawling up the slope wich doesn't sound hard but trust me it was! But then this is a time when I should of kept my mouth shut, I mentioned to Pony how we did this at school and got soaked. So then Pony decided to find out how muddy he could actually get us! So we all had to stand on the touch line and run and dive into the muddiest place on the pitch and then comando crawl in the mud (sorry Mums and Dads for the washing up!). But then me and a few others had the plan that since we were so muddy we should go up to Pony and give him a big hug. So it only took a few seconds for Ben to start the plan and to get Pony muddy. So we chased Pony all the way around the pitch up the slope around that and back down til me and Pony came to the agreement that we can play a match if we don't try and get him muddy! In the match it was a bit of fun but it became very hard to tackle and a few good try's were conceded. And after all that I think all the boys were pleased to get home and have a nice hot shower!

We then had the Gosport and Fareham RFC U12's Christmas bash! At Go Bowling! The whole overall was a success with great bowls and strikes and some good food. And with Timmy coming 4th and Josh coming 3rd (thanks to Tom for cheating and putting his foot over the line and making it a foul bowl, remember Tom owes Pony seven press ups on January the 8th!) and James and Louanne sharing 1st place. It was great for the whole team to have some fun together!
