Hey Lads & Parents
THANKS MUM for volunteering me
We all arrived on a windy Sunday morning to start the training session off with some shuttle runs with a difference, then we had to do some stretching sessions with Pony, then we split into 2 groups.
The first group went with Julian and Mike Baldwin to do some tackling exercises with the puddings, this was to enhance their tackling skills, but the remaining group went with Big Mike, Ray & Pony to do some new rucking techniques for example tackling and driving from a angle in the ruck and learning jack-knife tackles.
After a drink stop we split up into forward & backs and the forwards went to practice scrum drills and lineouts with Ray & Big Mike. During the lineout practice we had some calls that went wrong and some that were great, the second lineout call we did was a Lego Drive and well done to the forwards but need bit more of a drive than a rip (remember Mike’s checklist). We did the scrum work all our postures were correct but our binding was a bit wonky, but we soon got the hang of it. All I could see of the backs it looked like they were doing well too.
Towards the end of the session we had a game to practice the skills we learnt today, and the player of the day was Gareth well done to him.
Cheers
Lewis (Lego)
