Another good turnout of 28 for home training with the session focussing on our defensive and attacking lines and demonstrating in some competeive matches. The matches went off very well except for a few bumps and knocks from some very committed tackling and rucking. We still need to remember to stay on our feet in the ruck - carry your own body weight and drive up!
Some lovely offloading in the back line and some nicely angled runs broke the opposition down. Hope to see more of that next week...
Squad selection for next week will be released tomorrow night. We will be entering a squad of 22 to include 5 players in a barbarians team. I'd like all players and parents to pop down for some of the day to support the boys. It is also a fantastic opportunity to raise some funds for The Celts seasons ahead. We would like to part fund a tour in a few years time and with such a large squad we need to enter as many tournaments as possible to provide every player with equal game time this season.
Please bring a bottle of wine and some cakes for the fundraising table and if you can help out for an hour or so it would be most helpful - keep an eye on the Facebook page for more info.
The first match kicks off at 10am - I'd like all squad players and any others who are keen to support to be at the ground for 9am. The car park will likely be full by 9am and I'd recommend either parking locally and walking or park on the field (via Park Road) - A word of warning though - if it is raining you will not be able to park on the field.
Hope to see you all on Saturday too where all the Celts are invited to be a Guard of Honour for the G&F RFC 1st XV team as they take on Farnham at 3pm. Could all available Celts be in their full kit, pitchside bt 2.40pm please?
Thanks to all the coaches and volunteers who helped out today, always appreciated.
See you next week - keep your boys fit please. No injuries in the playground. Let me know asap if anything crops up though.
