Hi Saxons,
This was a great tournament and I am really thankful to Overton and Fordingbridge for organising it. The day was fantastic, with teams from Fordingbridge, Overton, Fareham Heathens and Gosport and Fareham playing at U12 while their U7-U11 teams battled it out for the Overton Spring Cup.
The Saxons formed two teams with the Saxon Kings and Saxon Warriors in action and both functioned brilliantly. It was wonderful to be watching one team of well-balanced Saxons in their Gold and Blue Hooped sponsored tops on one pitch, and then turn around to see another well-balanced Gosport Saxons team in their Gold and Blue Hooped sponsored tops delivering the same effect on the pitch next door at the same time!!
I think it was a special day and marked a turning point in your collective performance. You decided it was time to play hard, fight and see what you could do. The fact that you did it doubly. with two equal, balanced teams doing it at the same time is remarkable.
So, without getting ahead of ourselves, we managed to beat our good friends Fareham Heathens, firstly in a wonderful display of attacking Rugby which I missed because I was reffing a match, but my friend the Fareham Coach Jack told me all about. Our other team played them with just as much spirit and importantly went behind and then fought bck to win 10-5.
We fought hard against Overton but have still not cracked them in tight games. Fordingbridge are rightfully in the Top Eight Teams in Hampshire and they beat both of our teams, but we scored tries against them and had our moments.
No-one said it would be easy? You played well at Fordingbridge, had success and have seen how the Top Hampshire teams play.
Over to you, proud of you Saxons.
P.S I have only been enable to record the scores I have record of which I think are the Saxon Kings scores so if you think you are missing a score let me know. Tom
