Hi Saxons,
Great session today, I always wonder how many players will be there on the first day of the season and whether you will have forgotten how to play or lost your competetive spirit. Well you blew me away today with your performance throuughout training and into the match at the end. You are bigger, faster, stronger. You have even more skill in handling the ball, are playing with determination and maturity and you mean business.
We had 22 players on the field today and you were all as keen as mustard. I was very impressed. There has been no drop in fitness levels that we could detect and you played some quality ugby that the parents enjoyed watching. We will continue to work on our running and attacking rugby with sensible and deliberate offloads and passes. We will tackle hard and then compete for the ball at the rucks and mauls. We will not over commit players to the rucks and mauls, but we won't stand and watch either if we are needed. We will support players who make breaks because that is how we will break defences and score tries in the chaos we have created.
we will carry on enjoying our style of rugby.
Welcome to Ashley and James, both of whom made an impression today and scored tries in the match, hope you like the Saxons and know players and friends at school.
As advertised we are looking for sponsors for the team to sponsor the match kit and more in due course. We have already had one offer, but if any other Saxon parent wishes to Sponsor the team please let me know by the end of the week. One sponsor is fine but we could go to two.
We have our U12 tournament at Gosport Park on 1 Nov 15. PLease mark the date in your diary and make it if you can. We will enter two teams and every Saxon will play in their tournament, but I need you all to be available.
Welcome to Nick Davis as a new coach, he is a current player and brings experience and knowledge and if we can play with the same intensity as his son Oliver we will soon be Hampshire Champs.
Really enjoyed today,
Thank you
