The Saxons visited Totton for a triangular fixture with the Tottonians and Fordingbridge, both of whom are in the top 8 teams in the County.
The Saxons have made a great start to the season and continued their good run of competetive rugby with another strong and promising performance against Totton. The first half saw continued pressure placed on Totton with Jack A scoring within 15 seconds from the start, catching the kick and counter-attacking. Totton were still reeling from the shock and the Saxons worked hard to win ball and move it out to the centres who were able to work in the space and Jack got away for another 2 tries. Totton answered with a try and the first half finished with Gosport 15 Totton 5.
Totton cmae out firing in the second half and quickly pulled back two tries to level the score before Gosport could respond. This was a stark lesson for the Saxons, if you relax and drop the intensity and don't play as a team, quality opposition will quickly take control. Jack lead a counter-attack and scored again, but Totton were in control and scored twice again to recover and win the match 25-20.
