Big win for Ravens

A great attitude from all the players today meant that a spirited Heathens side were given a torrid time.
Heathens arrived with only 11 players and so Tyler, Aaron, Cameron and Ethan all stepped in to help and all performed very well.
Early pressure from Gosport won them a scrummage 10 meters out, Johnny picked up at the base and drove powerfully for the line to give Gosport a 5 point lead after 3 minutes.
Just a minute and a half later and some good handling saw Aidan go over in the corner. He then slotted his first conversion of the game.
A good kick return saw a Heathens scrummage on their own 5 meter line. Excellent pressure from the Gosport pack saw Heathens lose the ball which Ben G pounced on and drove over the line. Aidan converted.
On 15 minutes a good counter ruck from Gosport turned over Heathens possession, slick handling from Tom A and Tom E saw Aidan into space and he had the pace to make the corner. Aidan converted.
With 5 to go until half time a good deep kick was followed up well putting pressure on the defending Heathens, this forced an error which was pounced upon by Gosport and more good hands saw Owen in space. He used his pace to burst past the cover and over the line. Aidan converted.

The second half continued as the first half had finished.
Good pressure from the pack at a midfield scrummage saw the Heathens caught in possession and a turnover to Gosport, more quick hands from George at scrum half and the back line saw Connor using his pace to score in the corner.
There were several spells of Heathens pressure but all were excellently controlled by stoic Gosport defence, Joe leading the way with several turnovers.
A poor restart by Heathens with no real chase allowed Ben W to get up a head of steam and charge through the defence to score. Aidan converted.
A better restart from Heathens was dealt with well by Gosport, Good hands and excellent recycling saw the half backs combine to again put Ben W on the ball. He broke the tackle and out ran the covering defence. Aidan converted.
More Gosport pressure saw Heathens with a lineout inside their 22. They spilled the ball and Ben G pounced again and showed excellent footwork as he stepped three defenders before crossing the line. Aidan converted.
From the kick off Gosport made good ground and Heathens again found themselves defending deep in their 22. Another messy lineout saw Joe show good strength to rip the ball from Heathens and dive over the line. Aidan converted.
Heathens showed great spirit and as the game drew to a close looked like they would score following some strong running and good support. A good cover tackle from Connor thwarted the attack and Heathens couldn’t recycle the ball without using hands on the ground.
The resulting penalty was taken quickly and after two slick passes Ben W outstripped the defence to round off his hat trick. Aidan converted.
A good all round team performance with everybody playing their part and doing their jobs well.
George Smiths all round play and quick delivery earned him the man of the match award.
Ben Gray was given the Warrior shield for his amazing work rate and tenacity. A real captains performance.
Quick mention for Aidan Jarvis with a haul of 30 points, including 10 from 11 conversion attempts.
