Score doesn't reflect contest

G&F RFC Ravens (U15) field 32 players from the 35 member squad to play in a three session full squad game against Trojans RFC who managed to bring 22 players to Gosport Park. The game started with a tremendous intensity from Trojans who punished Ravens poor tackling and scored two tries in the first ten minutes of the first session. Ravens then got on the score sheet with the first of four tries on the day by Harry Rabjohn, all of which he converted. Trojans won a penalty in front of the posts but choose to kick it to extended their lead to 13-7. Ravens were determined to close out the session ahead and Joe Wilkinson and Harry Rabjohn both touched down to give a final session score of 21-13.
Second session and Euan Archbold entered the fray and rampaged in defence and attack scoring quickly with a try converted by Aidan Jarvis. Trojans let Ravens know that they weren't giving up and off of advantage scored another try. The penalty count against Ravens was mounting and the referee yellow carded No. 8 Ed Bell for repeated infringement. Tom Ellis showed he was back with strong runs from centre and Ben Grey made a nuisance of himself at the rucks. Euan Archbold closed out the session with his second with a final score of 17 - 7 in the session and 40 - 20 overall.
Trojans scrum technique began to falter and they lost too many scrums but Ravens ill discipline was again giving away too many penalties and a second yellow for repeated infringement saw them again reduced to 14 players as Ben Grey left the field. Trojans remained in the game and never gave up but were prevented from scoring whenever they got close to the Ravens try line. Matthew Hughes was unlucky not to collect to kicked ahead balls and Trojans held Ravens out on several occasions. Ravens were however in full flow and in running attacks Trojans tiredness saw tackling fall off and tries from Euan Archbold (2), Harry Rabjohn (2) and Connor Cox with conversions from Harry Rabjohn and Aidan Jarvis saw them score 31 unanswered points. Final score 71 - 20.
Euan Archbold was recognised as Player of the Match and Aidan Jarvis received the Warrior Shield for his tackle that created a turnover for a try.
