5 tries in 25 minutes makes recovery an impossible task.

Both squads turned up with twenty-eight players apiece and coaches decided on a three times twenty-five minute session format for the game. Brighton Blues came out firing whilst Gosport crumbled after the first try was scored against them. Tackles weren't made and rucks weren't contested. The driving ruck of Brighton was dominant and Ravens were constantly caught offside giving up valuable ground. The end of the session was approaching and Ravens had conceded 29 points from five tries and two conversions despite the best efforts of Joe Wilkinson who had tackled everything in front of him. In a last ditch effort prop Sam Rushent powered over and Aidan Jarvis converted to give a token score for the session. 29-7 and a mountain to climb if Ravens were to get back in to the game.
The next set of players came on and seemed to be up for the game keeping Brighton from scoring for 10 minutes but the pressure told and the Blues scored first. Ravens responded and Harry Rabjohn touch down and converted his own try. Brighton scored again before the end of the session to advance the score to 39-14; but Ravens knew that they could compete with Brighton and appeared to find new shape and purpose. Euan Archbald was reeking havoc in the Brighton attacks and they were no longer dominating possession.
The changes were made and Ravens began to dominate. Tries by Sam Rushent, Ben Wheeler and Tom Ellis were all converted by Aidan Jarvis and Harry Rabjohn to give Ravens a 21 point last session. Brighton managed a final score to bring the game to an end with a score line on 44-35 in their favour.
Scrum half Olly Webb was chosen as Ravens Man of the Match on the basis of the improved distribution he brought to game in the third session.
Another good performance by Youth Referee Academy Referee Gareth Blake to manage a game that was fiercely contested.
