One Club, One Family

All the Senior teams are back in pre-season training, getting themselves ready for action ahead of their new season.

The 1st team, 2nd team (The Vikings) and the Colts are being worked hard by the Men’s Seniors Head Coach, George Hillan. He is working them all hard, in particular to increase their fitness to be able to provide support to each other when exhaustion hits. George has also taken all the teams back to basics; and is building them back up brick by brick to develop on their processes and structures.
The Goddesses (ladies team) are being worked hard on their fitness levels by their Head Fitness Coach, Kevin Chambers, to increase their stamina when they have to dig deep when fatigue sets in during the later games of their tournaments. Some of the Goddesses have taken it upon themselves to do extra fitness so they give their ultimate perform for next season.

On Sunday 8th September 2019, the Goddesses and the Colts will be kicking their season off. The Goddesses will be away at a tournament being hosted by Andover Seniors and Development Teams. The Colts meanwhile are away to Bognor Regis, in a friendly to start their season.

The 1st and 2nd teams kick off their seasons the following weekend (Saturday 14th September 2019). The 1st will be taking part in the London and South East Division - London 3 South West League. They will be kicking their season off at home to Old Tiffinions. Whist the 2nd team will be away at Overton, as part of the London & South East Division - Hampshire League.

Gosport and Fareham Rugby Club are excited about hosting their first Rugby Taster Day on Sunday 11th August 2019; so why not come down and give rugby a try?

Gosport & Fareham Rugby Club is for all the family, and has a team for everyone from mini youth to the senior men’s teams to the Goddesses (the ladies team). Come along on the 11th August (1100 to 1600hrs) and give it a try! Could you be on the front row of the action or be a Goddess? The day is set to be a fun packed adrenaline filled rugby day for all the family of all ages and abilities. There isn’t just rugby, there will be a giant inflatable obstacle course, bootcamp sessions, a BBQ and lots of other events happening around the club and Gosport Park; and let’s not forget that England are playing Wales in a pre-world cup match as well which will be shown in the club house. Come and have lots of fun with the Gosport & Fareham Rugby family, where you will receive a warm welcome.

As part of the preseason preparations, the club has held three weekends of cleanup. Volunteers from the Gosport & Fareham Rugby family have spent their time, installing new showers in the 1st and 2nd teams changing room; painting lots of areas of the club house; tidying up the surrounding area and the compound; as well as the gym and generally clean their rugby home for the new season.

Vice Chair and Facilities Manager, Tony Buckley would like to thank everyone for all their help over the weekends; especially a few of the Men’s Senior teams; all the Goddesses, Coaches across all the teams; and our supporters. With a massive thank to Gary Middleton and Mark Ryan for installing the showers and walling and trims around the 1st and 2nd team showers; and Richard Daly from LBHS for donating all the shower materials and Malc Wheeler from B&L Flooring for renewing all the flooring in the showers.

Rob Batley, Chairman of Gosport & Fareham Rugby Club says “We are all very excited about the new season which is around the corner. We are looking forward to our first Rugby Taster Day, why not come down and get a warm and friendly welcome; as we have teams for everyone, of every age and ability.”

“I would personally like to thank Tony Buckley for organising all the club cleanup weekends, which without him wouldn’t have happened. I would also like to thank everyone who gave up their time to help with club preparations for the new season.”

“We love to see lots of you down at our Taster Day on Sunday 11th August for a fun-packed family day out”.
