All the weekend action from GFRFC

Our 1XV and 2XV were without fixtures this weekend, but our Colts and Mini Youth were still in action…

Colts - The Colts had their return league fixture versus Portsmouth. Having experienced a narrow loss in the away game, the team was determined to set the record straight in this local derby. After a slow start, conceding in the second minute, they started to get on top of things and execute their game plan. Ill discipline cost the opponents dear; maintaining calm heads allowed Gosport to run out 31-12 winners.

U15s - U15s played a strong Bournemouth side in their 3rd league game, narrowly losing 17-15.

U13s - The U13s Stingrays had a great game away with a win against Locks Heath. It was nice to see the team growing in numbers with 4 new players joining in this last month!

U11s - The U11 Dragons took 11 players to Vectis to play 2 Vectis teams and Petersfield. Great rugby and great teamwork, we were really proud well done. Dragon of the week Reuben for consistent tackles and a great interception to score a try!

U10s - A fun and chilly morning for all today! Focus for today was all about the passing of the ball and working as a team…the children enjoyed the warm up with a small rugby ball…

U9s - What a wet and cold weekend! Saxons had a fun training session with coach Si. Well done to Saxon on the week James!

U8s - This week, the U8s had a training session at home with all showing great resilience and TREDS despite the sudden shift to cold weather. Celebrations of birthdays were enjoyed as well as some rugby games and activities focusing on defending.

U6s - First bitterly cold morning for our U6 CELTS today, but that didn’t stop them. Training was fun and energetic and packed with lots of running to keep them warm. Then it was upstairs for a chance to win some prizes by taking part in a Tombola, digging deep in a lucky dip, maybe even a glitter tattoo to brighten up your day or just simply having a slice of cake to go with a tea/coffee. We raised an amazing £175 to kick start our funds. Thank you to all the parents for their tombola donations and home made contributions for todays fundraiser, they went down a treat, and to all other age groups for being prepared with cash to get involved also.

We have lots of festive fun coming up at the club in December. Check out dates and information here. Our next league lunch is taking place on Saturday 9th December when our 1XV take on Portsmouth and we’re hosting a Christmas party on the 16th; please contact Vicky at gfrfc.bar@gmail.com or call 07956 438731 to book your place.
