a sad loss

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Dr Ian Bell on 8th June 2020. Ian acted as the age group's doctor and medical backup at virtually every game and accompanied the team on all their tours as the Doc.

He was an unassuming man with a very personable character. His son Joe, now a doctor himself, came through the mini set up and eventually captained the U16s as a No.8, in what was one of the most successful age groups since the formation of the Mini/Youth rugby at Gosport Park, when they won the Hampshire Cup and the Guernsey Cup in the same year.

Joe and Milly, Ian's daughter, have set up a Just Giving Page for The Childrens Brain Tumour Research Centre in the University of Nottingham where Ian Bell trained.

The Solent View Medical Practice Facebook page has a further tribute to Ian and there is a message from Joe and Milly, the daughter of Ian,

Rest in Peace Dr Ian Bell
