Solid performances all round help the Vikings to their biggest win of the Season.

For the first time in a long time G&F Vikings were the underdogs in as far as player numbers were concerned when the made the short trip away to United Services at Burnaby Road. This meant that both the Vikings sides faced the prospect of having to play three USP sides back to back.

Unfortunately for USP they came up against 15 Vikings players who had definitely brought their A Game with them on the day.

The session started with some passing and strength drills then broke into two pitches, one for attacking drills and one for the matches. The attacking drill being coached was set out to encourage the players to move the ball wide, scores only counting if the ball was grounded within a couple of metres of the side line. This seemed an unnatural action to the G&F players, who, although always coached to pass the ball away from the contact are also encouraged to change running angles and avoid taking the ball too close to the sidelines.

From the match pitch, the commitment of ALL G&F players to defence and attack was phenomenal, leaving the USP sides in a state of disarray.

Try Scorers:

Jack Arnold 3
Dylan Smith 4
Ben Coleman 5
Rhys Williams 2
Tom Robertson 1
Alec Campbell-Baldwin 3
Max Palethorpe 1
George Middleton 2
Ciaran Meachen 1

The scorers were taken from the match pitch only. There were too many outstanding performances in attack and defence to name everyone involved, but some of the game changing moments were:

Dylan Smith off load in the tackle just short of the try line to put Ben over to score.

Max Palethorpe for a try saving tackle into touch, some of the USP players had already started walking back to the middle thinking their player had scored.

Jack Mitchell for his work rate in and around the breakdown / tackle.

Players Of The Week - Marcus Blockley-Webb and Jack Arnold - for outstanding work in attack and defence and distribution of play.

Try Of The Week - Jack Mitchell and George Middleton - for support play and passing leading up to great team tries.

Tackle Of The Week - Max Palethorpe and Dylan Smith - for tackles that stopped definite scores by USP.

Awards will be handed out following home training on Sunday 9th March.
