No ill effects of sea journey apparent.

Ravens set about their task today in glorious sunshine and a lovely cooling breeze off the sea on top of the cliffs at Ventnor RFC in their fixture against Vectis RFC U14's. From the whistle every player look determined to play their part and after the initial contests they got some phases going and Euan Archbold got their first try in the corner. A period on concerted pressure saw them awarded a penalty try and they then dominated the first half with good running play that saw Ethan Hammond and Aaron Spiteri ran in tries from the backs. Harry Rabjohn converted 2 from 5 and Ravens turned around 24-0 up.
The substitutes were brought on at half time and it took awhile for the team to settle again with missed tackles allowing Vectis to score a couple of tries that they converted. Usual service resumed when Ravens found winger Owen Harper who scored under the posts having beaten his opposition and out paced their cover. Euan Archbold returned to the field and made an immediate impact scoring a great try after splitting the defence on the 22 and drive through the covering tackles. Ben Wheeler who had an immense first half with driving runs and committed tackles then saw a gap and ran in from the 22 after several phases. Owen Harper again beat the defence on the outside.
In the dying minutes Ravens continued to exert pressure and from a quick penalty William Hosell drive on from 5m dive and reached the line with a long stretch of his arm to round of a great day of rugby. Harry Rabjohn kick 4 conversions from 5 in the 2nd half.
Opposition selected Aaron Spiteri as Man of the Match, a good call with 4 recorded carries, 2 telling tackles and a try to his name for the game.
A very good all round performance with the forwards regularly securing ball and always making the gain line . The distribution was good in the backs that saw both wingers and a centre on the score sheet. Scrum halves George Smith and Olly Webb recycled the ball well. Christian Osborn stepped up to the mark in his first starting selection. Ed Bell and Joe Wilkinson had another workman like day in the back row; with Hooker Finlay Daly on their shoulder in attack. Tom Archer counter attacked as always and put in a superb defensive kick that returned Vectis to their own 22 when Ravens were under pressure.
Final score 57-14 to Ravens.
