Gosport and Fareham host Alton for a friendly friendly.

On a very cold, bright and breezy morning, Gosport & Fareham started with 15 players, as Alton kindly gave players to make up the numbers. Joshua Morris was the first to go off this time with an injury to his knee, seeing Ludo make an early appearance from the bench.

With Alton attacking the home side line a solid Alex Burnett tackle held up an attacking player ending up with an attacking 5 metre scrum. From the resulting scrum Alton went on to score a try and make a successful conversion make the score 7-0 after 5 minutes.

Alton then scored again making it 14-0 after 10 minutes. Alton then too the restart and went under the sticks and this time missing the conversion, 19-0 (11 minutes).

A great tackle from Benjamin Smith, caused Alton to panic and this lead to them giving Gosport & Fareham a penalty for holding on, Gosport & Fareham didn’t manage to throw the ball in straight at the lineout, leading to an Alton scrum which was followed by a forward pass, Gosport & Fareham then getting the scrum.

Alton were then penalised for holding on again, the kick didn’t manage to go out and stayed in play, and Alton scored with a 70 metre run from their very speedy prop, to make the score 24-0 (26 mins). Gosport and Fareham then managed to score a try (31 minutes) by a borrowed Alton player, with a successful conversion by Benjamin Smith the score being 24-7 at half time.

David Lewis managed to make a great tackle stopping Alton going over the try line after 4 minutes of the second half. Ollie Walker then left the field with a dead arm however he did try to make a tackle before leaving the pitch. Six minutes into the second half Alton managed to go over the try line  again to make it 31-7.

Alfie Grant then made an exit with an injury, Gosport and Fareham scored, by once again an Alton player, converted by Benjamin Smith, 24-14 after 19 minutes

Alton then scored (21 minutes) under the sticks, making the final score 38-14.
