A tale of missed tackles.

The game began with Farnborough scoring a try in the left corner in the first two minutes of the game with an unsuccessful conversion. Shortly followed by another try in the same corner to make the score 0-10 in just six minutes.

A speedy side stepping number 10 on Farnborough’s team managed to make his way through the Gosport and Fareham defence and scored an excellent solo try making the score 0-15.

Farnborough looked as if they were in again but were then held up, however they then scored when a quick thinking number 8 did a pick up and go from the scrum and carried it over the line adding the conversion to make it 0-22.

Farnborough went over again following the talented number 10 looping around the centres and hitting the gap and then outstripping the Gosport and Fareham defence and scoring to the right side of the sticks to make the score 0-27 after twenty one minutes. The home team had very little to offer against a now rampant Farnborough side who were bigger, stronger and better organised. The away side began scoring at will. Another short kick off which Farnborough ran straight back, scoring under the sticks making the score 0-34 after twenty four minutes.

The Farnborough players then ran a good three quarters of the field to score the last try of the first half making it 0-39.

Just two minutes into the second half Farnborough weren’t showing any signs of stopping and scored a further try making it 0-46, followed by another, the result of a short attempted chip bouncing straight into a Farnborough players arms, to make it 0-51.

Eight minutes into the second half the game changed when two players from Farnborough joined the Gosport and Fareham side, making a difference right away as Ryan (Farnborough player) scored Gosport and Fareham’s first try of the game, making it 5-51.

The changes made seemed to switch the Gosport and Fareham attitude and commitment as Robert Ellis then scored under the sticks, 10-51. The return of Joe O’Mahony (aka “Moon boot”) after a long time out due to a long recovery after injuring his ankle saw him score a try making it 15-51.

Ollie Walker then added to the score after a kick through by Harvey Field to make the score 20-51. Last try of the game was scored by Farnborough making the final result 20-56.

Many thanks to all the supporters who travelled and came to watch the game as the support is what a team needs to succeed and is also great to hear everyone cheering the teams on when they aren’t performing as well as they could’ve. Onwards and upwards to the next game home against Bognor next Sunday.
