COLTS Fitness shows!

"Shades....REALLY!"
- Chris Blockley-Webb - COLTS Manager

HAMPSHIRE RFU Tag Tournament - Southampton RFC:

The sun was blazing with only a slight breeze, the sky was blue, the fields were green.......

To the important stuff......the big winner on the day was the TEAM. Entering a purely COLTS team made us unique in the tournament. In the pool stages we started our matches 3 nil down, before a whistle was blown or ball was kicked, due to the handicap system. However, the day was not about winning, it was about gelling as a team, getting to know the new with the old......

...and didn't they do well. We drew all of our pool matches so we ended up in the plate finals. The team played well, working well with the referee, and listening. Communication started to improve and movement on the pitch started to flow. The noticeable "act" was the "Reece" dive that Tom Daley would have been proud of, into the corner..and try!

In the Plate finals the format changed, a surprising amount of volunteers from the squad wanted to help out a depleted ladies Baa-Baa's team!.

We went onto win our matches 4-0, 5-0 and the final 6-0, with a hat-trick from "Curly"!.......the "Touch" of the day was from Jack Stillion..an attempted dive from an opponent, Jack gave the young man a "Firemans lift" stood there, and exclaimed "..what next..." even the ref fell around laughing!, the matches toward the end of the day started to show our fitness training paying dividends..(Big-Up Tim!).

We departed as plate winners and the solid start of a team starting to form and gel. The only major loss of the day, was, sadly, the managers event dome, a single gust of wind turned it over on itself, the sound of wrenching steel...a collective " oh dear" and the manager seen sobbing into his hands muttering "...she's going to kill me...!"

A big "mensh" must go to the "Hugin" team, our mix match of ladies, oldies and experience who did Gosport & Fareham proud with a solid performance...you all looked great in shorts!.

Pictures to follow, but not of Reece in his "shades", ...REALLY!

Yours in Rugby
