match preview & team selections

Although Gos head to Eastleigh this weekend on the back of their opening day defeat to Old Emanuel, they are still full of confidence due to changes in the post- match analysis that has been introduced, as head coach George Hillan explained.

“It has been a week of consolidation for the players and coaching staff, whilst trying to get over the disappointment of the weekends results. After watching the video of the game the players have identified the areas they need to develop for the Eastleigh fixture.

The ability for the players to carryout self-analysis is a new concept we have brought in for the players this season and already we can see the benefits. From a coaching perspective it was very pleasing to see we are all aligned, the players have identified the same areas as the coaching staff, which means we can go forward as a collective.

We are under no illusion this weekend’s fixture will be a very hard one as Eastleigh are coming off a convincing win away last weekend. Training has been focused on the areas we identified we need to develop and has been very productive.

Selection this week has been hard, as the players are disappointed in the result against Old Emanuel so it’s been trying to find the right balance for the team without effecting players confidence. There will be a couple of changes but these are caused by players picking up injuries over the last couple of weeks along with availability issues”.
