Awesome RAVENS!
8 weeks into the season and the standard of rugby today was a pleasure to watch. We have never won the 1st match before and today we broke tradition.
From the coaches meeting to the first game it became evident that all the clubs were playing/ coaching differently. The squad coped very well with the changes and did not commit half as many infringments as the other teams. The tackle area and what is deemed to be a tackle is a variant, our squad enjoy direct running but in the first game the ref considered a two handed grip of the shirt a tackle which stopped
half the team in their tracks. They really did well at the breakdown area, post tackle, as they were not allowed to compete for the ball, the idea was to let the team in possesion have the benifit of clean ball which in turn would aid flowing rugby "didnt really work".
We played Alton 3:1 (Kye scored 2, Ethan 1)
Sadly we lost the second game to Winchester 5:3 (Harry 1, William 1, Thomas 1)
We won the last game 2:1 very close ( Kye and Thomas scored a try).
