Well done for a great morning of rugby despite the cold biting wind – I think the new training tops must have made all the difference! Eastleigh and Portsmouth thanked us for our hospitality and for the chance to play local teams in a friendly triangular tournament. In particular the Eastleigh coach commented afterwards that he liked the way you played your rugby together as a team. Your support for each other and willingness to pass to someone in a better position was evident and something he was encouraging in his team. Well done, we agree that you are playing well and I hope you all feel you are growing together as a team.
If any player finishes a session feeling they have not had the ball to carry or played an active part in a game, please let us know. We aim to develop a team of players who enjoy having the ball, sharing it and attacking the opposition, and you are right on track.
The reports from the coaches leading the three Saxon teams were very favourable, with some real determined rugby being played. Callum T was carrying the ball well and offering some great off loads, he delivered some great pop passes to players running through the gaps he had created, which is exactly how we want to play and he was awarded Pass of The Week, well done. James T has been impressing for weeks with his determination and commitment and he scored a wonderful deserved try to be awarded Try of the Week; fantastic! Player of the week was awarded to Jamie S who carried the team in a difficult period against Portsmouth and showed real Saxon spirit in attack and defence; excellent. Congratulations shiny trophy winners!
