Fantastic squad effort results in one of the most convincing victories of the season against our good friends Salisbury. In game four of the season against Salisbury our lads put into practise all that had been coached to them this season.

On a beautiful day at Salisbury Rugby Club the Gosport and Fareham emerging players team went out on the field and showed everyone what they were about.
The first five minutes were totally Gosport as we pinned Salisbury in their own 22 with continuing scrum and rucking pressure. The balls were won by Gosport each time through great scrum work through a solid, well worked front row ,held together by Matt'Sparky' Sparsholt whose hooking was excellent.
Continual good work by Tom and Chris led to excellent fastball passing through Ben Angell and Harry Langford ,whom ,with some brilliant side stepping scored a try in the right corner of the field.
Failure to convert the tries was due to no volunteer from the backs,so we had the entertainment of Chris Wallis,Sam Hudson and Mikey Smith attempting.
Patch we missed you!
The next 13 minutes were then a try fest with Chris scoring from a scrum pick up (well he was bound to try it!)on 10 mins, Tom Collins also scoring from a scrum (14mins).Will Larkin Sealing the first 20 minute phase of play with an excellent run scoring again off a good supply from Ben and the Centres!
2nd phase and Salisbury came back with a well deserved try- this was from a good 5 mins of continued pressure where their number 9 orchestrated continual attacks from well contested rucking on their part.Jake Buckley came off after a furious 20 mins of hardwork to allow Gregor a go at Salisbury in his second ever game for us.

Good work from Gregor Mackinnon -protecting his channel by pushing a Salisbury player into touch and collecting a dangerous loose ball later in the game, which through his pass back to our supporting centres, led to a try, this time from Darren Jones. This game phase seemed more balanced as Salisbury put on fresher legs which finally paid off by their 2nd try coming after intense pressure again from their number 9 and also their 10 who delivered a lot of fast ball away from the rucking area.
Final phase and three trys came again from Gosport- again heaps of pressure in Salisburys 22.Harry on 40mins, Will Larkin on 45 ,almost another but held up on 58mins (ref Wallis must have been blind!). The resulting scrum in the last phase of the game had Chris pick and run on the five metres to successfully put down a try.
All the lads played with great heart and were never going to allow a defeat. The way they played would have given most first teams a run for their money!
Special mentions go to Sparky for his hooking, excellent scrum work and good recycling work at the ruck.

Tom Collins for excellent work with both backs and forwards-particularly with Ben and Chris.
Ben with his safe hands and passing to his backs.
Gregor for his efforts, spoiling the Salisbury attack twice-well done
Will Larkin for his work rate
Sam-continually helping at the rucks and causing no end of headaches to the Salisbury centre.
