A game to wash away the disappointments of the last few weeks. Trojans kicked off and Ravens went to work and in the first 5 minutes totally dominated the game with excellent retention and attack. Forwards recycled, George Smith distributed and the backs attacked. Finally Harry Rabjohn went over in the corner to open the scoring. Trojans came back but Ben Wheeler and Finlay Daly crashed them back and turned them over. Ethan Hammond, as captain, lead by example and cut lines into their defence and tackled anything that ran at the centre of Ravens line. Euan Archbold crashed over for Ravens second on the 11:30 minutes mark. Front row of Samuel Rushent, Huw Bones and Finlay Daly were rock solid and won scrums off Trojans as well as all their own. Tom Archer ran back every time Trojans kicked to relieve pressure and Ravens continued to dominate. Harry Rabjohn switch play to the blind side off the back of a scrum and dived in at the corner for his second. At a breakdown 7m out George Smith sniped to the corner and offloaded to Aidan Jarvis who dived in at the corner to close out the half, 20-0 to Ravens.
Second half started with Trojans trying to get back into the game and Ravens soaked it up for 7:47 minutes when Harry Rabjohn reopened the scoring with a 40m strong run breaking all attempts to stop him and touched down for his hat trick. A minute later Ethan Hammond, Tom Archer and Thomas Ellis released Aaron Spiteri from 35m out and he ran it into the corner beating Trojans covering tackle. Trojans heads never dropped and for 5 minute's it looked like they would get back into the game and came close to scoring. Joseph Wilkinson was instrumental in stopping them with tackle after tackle and contesting the ball. On 38:30 minutes Tom Ellis was put away by a fine piece of backs play and scored the 7th try of the game. Referee consulted coaches who agreed to play on and the 7th place was won by Ravens.
The substitutions were made and Gregor House continued to distribute the ball to keep Ravens going forward. Oliver Webb nearly got on the end of a cross kick. Backs still combined in attack and Ethan Hammond generously passed just short of the line to give George Smith in support a try. Harry Freeman came on and kept the scrum going forward as did Jonathan Lewis who supported every attack and in the last minute found an overhead off load by Aidan Jarvis within his grasp and he crashed it over for Ravens 9th try. Lot's of candidates today but Finlay Daly deservedly was awarded the man of the match wash bag.
A true team performance that hopefully will set the momentum for Salisbury next week sand then the B&P Tournament the following week.
