Alton arrived off the back of a heavy defeat in last weeks cup match but were very willing to play and develop their skills. Their team had some very promising players, particularly up front. They dominated in the ruck, an area where the Ravens have to improve. However, GFRFC Ravens dominated in all other aspects of the game and fielded two sides playing alternate periods. Tom Archer opened the scoring in the first of a brace he was to score in the game. George Smith closed out the 1st Period 10-0 to Ravens. 2nd period was dominated by the Ravens attacking play with a pair of tries from Harry Rabjohn and one from Ben Wheeler. In the 3rd period Alton came alive as Ravens game became disjointed at the breakdown and they score two tries to close the 3rd period 25-10. Final quarter Ravens steadied the ship and closed out the game with tries by Euan Archbold and a fine evasive run by Gregor House.
Final score 40-10 to Ravens.
Pre-match training and the run out worked well for Ravens but they will face a much stiffer test next week away at Basingstoke.
