Tense Cup quarter final delivers quality rugby
As expected at this stage of the tournament, spectators & players enjoyed a real thriller of a rugby match in the county cup QF at New Milton today.
Our hosts in New Milton treated our arrival in true festive spirit, dishing out mulled wine to those who hovered close enough to get noticed! Where was mine though?!
A large crowd turned out to cheer on both teams in what turned out to be a very closely fought match with some great rugby on show. New Milton looked threatening throughout but Gosport & Fareham's defence held strong & with a growing confidence from a strong forwards display, Gosport ran out victors by 8 points in a match that held the spectators riveted till the final whistle.
A special well done to all players - you did yourselves proud coming together & putting in a real team performance despite injuries to the squad & some players in less familiar positions.
A good all round performance against strong opponents.
