The start to the season for the B squad started with an exciting game. Four of our Players went over to the Petersfield team so we could play a 15 vs 15, as our opposition had trouble bringing numbers to the field.
Despite the scoreline the game was very close.Petersfield were four tries up after 20 mins, just before half time though the Gosport boys got themselves motivated with an excellent hard fought try won by George Wyatt. This was unfortunately followed up by Petersfields 5th try in the 25th minute.
Swapping our four boys at half time and the up beat mood of the lads after Georges try, Gosport kept the pressure on to eventually score a try through Chris whom had excellent support to drive him to Petersfields line in the 42nd minute.
This was followed by a try by an equally determined Ethan in the 45th minute, again excellent support wih forwards and backs with fast recycling of the ball with popping the ball up from the tackles-
Another try was scored by Petersfied in fast response in the 46th minute and 2 minutes later, they broke through again.
Gosport showing their normal stubborness were not going down without a fight and a late crash ball supplied to Chris resulted in a try in the 49th minute.
The game was a lot more exciting than I can do justise in words-
Did the boys enjoy the game ?-when asking for feedback from the boys on the game they did. When asked on what could they do better they immediately admitted that as a team their tackling could be better. Thanks for the honesty boys, I am sure it will.
The impression we have left with Petersfield as a visiting team is awesome and you should be very proud of yourselves as a squad for your conduct, respect and positive attitude that you deliver wherever you go .Please keep it up, you're a credit to Gosport and Fareham.
Last of all a big thankyou to the 8 boys that swapped shirts and played for Petersfield and did this without question as I'm sure any of you would have done.
Seeing as you helped Petersfield win we'll have to think of a forfeit for you!!!Also Well done to Ben Angell and Robert Ellam for being chosen for Man of the Match by both sets of coaches.
Thanks for Dave ,Mick and Alistair for their valuble support.
Well Done All
