A battling display from Gos secured a well earned victory in their latest Hampshire League Div II match. This game was always going to be a hard, tough game - a very spirited and well organised Eastleigh had previously beaten Gos this season.
However, Gos turned out ready for the battle and competed in all areas of the pitch. The forwards certainly took a battering and played their part by winning vital ball in the loose and holding their own in the scrum. And it was the midfield that stole the show with commanding performances from Tom Rimmer, Tom Batley, and Sam Yeardley.
The first half finished with Gos entering the break only 8-5 ahead, but the second half produced five tries from Gosport & Fareham. Sam Yeardley struck first with a polished weaving solo run; Reegan Hamilton powered over after a fine run; Yeardley scored his second of the match; Tom Batley using his pace to run around the wing; and Tom Rimmer dancing through the Eastleigh defence to score his second try following his first half effort. George Firth went over at the end to cap an outstanding all round team performance.
