It was Eastleigh who opened the scoring with a try but it was Gos who had most of the possession in the first half and this was capped by a great try from Tom Rimmer after a clever kick by Lewis Evans. Then a fine solo try from Evans running from well inside his own half meant that Gos went into the break leading 10 – 5.
In the second half Eastleigh’s powerful backs took control of the match and three tries and a penalty saw the game slip away from Gos. Good defensive performances from Tom Batley and David Allot-Nickerson kept the score down and another good try from Lewis Evans showed that Gos were still in the fight. However, Eastleigh finished strong and scored another try at the end.
