The gloomy rain and windy Halloween weather was perhaps an ill-omen for the U14s who were protecting their unbeaten run in this friendly against Bournemouth.
The home side were quickly into their stride and took the lead after just two minutes with a good try in the corner even though the ball appeared to be dropped before touch down. However, Bournemouth showed just how good a team they are with their strong pack, excellent support play at the break-down and superb back to score another three tries in the first half to lead 22 – 0 at the interval.
Gos rallied in the second half and a dazzling run by Tom Rimmer produced a wonderful try for George Firth. They continued to improve with a fine resolute display from Sam Yeardley but their fight back was short lived and Bournemouth powered in another four tries to run out well deserved victors.
