Saxons Impress Against Trojans

The Saxons impressed with some fast, exciting rugby in an early season friendly with Hants Cup Runners Up Trojans
The Saxons have started the U15 season with an impressive performance against Trojans in an early season warm up match. The fixture was split into 4 quarters to allow all players to play some competetive rugby and to allow for different combinations and position changes. The Saxons arrived with a squad of 21 following some last minute injuries and played a bigger squad of 30 Trojans.
The Saxons immediately impressed with their aggressive rucking, winning the ball and then continuity of attack, with players taking the balll forwards, finding space, making half breaks and either passing or offloading. The pace was frenetic and the team were rewarded with opening tries for Jack Adams. The Trojans fought back into the game, and so it was throughout the session with the teams evenly matched throughout. Jack scored twice again, Ben Brooker scored a determined try and Harry Bricknell scored his first 15 a side try, pinning his ears back and going for the corner. Conversions were scored by Jamie Stephenson, Jack Adams and Liam Charlson.
The match finished six tries a piece, with Trojans kicking two more conversions, taking the score to 40-36 to Trojans.
This was a strong performance by the Saxons against last years second best team in the county. They were competetive throughout the game, made additional opportunities and played some very exciting attacking rugby which the Trojans found hard to contain. There are some areas for the Saxons to work on, but this was a great confidence building performance.
