Gosport & Fareham under 15s A team on the road again this weekend but this time we stayed in our own county to face Tottonians in the county cup.
A last minute injury withdrawal took the absentees list to 5 & forced a round of rushed phone calls to find a replacement. Luckily the ever ready Wurly stepped in for injured Will Moulton in the 2nd row even though only called upon shortly before 0900 today. Well done & thanks Wurly!
So, arriving with only 15 players & facing a tough team talk from their coach, the lads were in no doubt as to the need to put in a performance today against Toots who on paper looked t be the underdogs. The score opened early in Gosport's favour & continued to trickle in that direction, ending in a 50 - 0 match. That's only one side of the story though. Totts played very well & in all honesty deserved at least a couple of tries for their determination, commitment & their huge sportsmanship as they battled right till the final whistle. They appeared to will ball in every contact at will causing the Gosport attack to fumble time & again. The scoreline flattered Gosport today & Totts should take heart from a spirited performance!
Flr the Gosport & Fareham lads, we now look forward to a QF match up against the winners of the Andover v Farnborough game.
Lots to work on before the next round. Well done boys but we've got a long way to go yet.
Man of the match award goes to Matt John at scrum half who had a very good all round game in attack, defence & ball provision.
Wally of the Week award - So many candidates today but in the end Jake Moseley wins the award - again. Despite having a strong game & scoring multiple tries Jake - AGAIN - ran off the end of the dead ball line while attempting to score!
