another frustrating day on the road

Gos suffered another frustrating away day going down 35-12 to Old Reigatians. What was most frustrating was that the blue and golds hadn't started a match better all season and flew out of the traps, maybe surprising the home team with the power, pressure and decisive running lines which resulted in Kieran Darrington opening the scoring for Gos in the 4th minute.

Unfortunately however, that try proved to be Gosport's only scored that half and small mistakes turned into scores for the home team.

This continued into the second half with Old Reigatians increasing their lead throughout. but despite the increasing scoreline, the margins between the teams were not as the scoreboard might suggest. For those watching it was clear that, although there were mistakes on both sides, it was the home side who were able to take advantage of them and that was effectively the difference on the day.

To Gosport's credit, as usual they kept going to the the end and were rewarded with a try from Owen Brown late in the second half, converted by Dom Holling. It was though to be the final Gosport score of the afternoon.

Head coach George Hillan gave his thoughts in the video below immediately following the game.
