disappointment as nothing to show for a fantastic performance

If we play like that in our next few matches and are just a little more clinical in the danger zones I have no doubt that we'll be climbing up the league
- George Hillan

Gosport and Fareham came away from Old Alleynians wondering how they had got nothing from the game.

Despite the gap between the sides Gosport easily held their own. Despite going 7 -0 down in the 17th minute, a try from Wesley Dugan just before half time brought the away side to within just 2 points.

Gosport started the second half well and had there been one or two slightly better decisions made in the scoring zone Gosport could easily have taken the lead but as it was, and slightly against the run of play Old Alleynian scored a second try on 48 minutes.

Testament to the efforts of the Gosport team though , they didn't step off and after James Wales charged down an attempted clearance following a kick through from Dean Smallbone, Smallbone himself took a pass from Wesley Dugan to get to within 2 points again. Dom Holling converted to bring the scores deservedly level.

At this point it looked to all watching like Gosport could have gone on for a famous victory.
Unfortunately a couple of errors directly led to two home trys within 4 minutes of one another and put the game out of reach at 26-12.

It was a scoreline that even the home team admitted flattered them. The effort given will surely soon turn into points on the league table.
